Eight teenagers aged between 13 and 17 are in custody, after a violent carjacking left a woman injured.

All coming up in the show, pretty exciting stuff. But right now, let's begin this hour with breaking news out of Queensland. Eight teenagers aged between 13 and 17 are in custody after a violent carjacking left a mother injured.

Let's go live to Mia Glover on the Gold Coast. Mia, a police helicopter spotted the teens. That's right, Sarah. Good morning again to you guys. It was the police helicopter late yesterday afternoon that first spotted the stolen car that these teenagers are said to have taken from a Gold Coast mother early yesterday morning at Ashmore.

That was spotted in Inala, some 70 kilometres away from where this horrible incident unfolded. Then several hours later, they took into custody 18 ages, like you say, the youngest just 13 years old. Charges this morning are yet to be laid, but police will certainly no doubt charge them with being involved in that carjacking that saw 50 -year -old Gold Coast mother Yoko Abe dragged from her car at Ashmore early yesterday morning, bashed and then left on the street before they took off with her vehicle.

I tried to contact Chippewa Zero, and then she answered about... same time they get out from the car. I had to cut the lips and then paint the neck. Now, shockingly, Sarah and Carl, this wasn't the only carjacking incident that unfolded in the southeast yesterday.

Another group of teenagers is believed to be responsible for a carjacking at Belimba yesterday afternoon, which saw a man sitting in his Audi in his own driveway at Belimba, and he was approached by cooks armed with a shovel and a machete. He gave them the keys to the car and thankfully walked away unscathed.

His vehicle was later found abandoned at Stone's Corner. Those offenders are this morning still on the run. Guys? Mia, thank you.
